Despacito was first released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017 and became the number one streamed track in just 6 months. It was a blend of reggaeton and pop which not only brought attention to Latin Music but also reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs mostly in Spanish by 2016 compared to two in the year 2015. Despacito's popularity Despacito reached its peak in the year 2017. In 2020 the year 2020, 41 mainly Spanish songs will be included in the top 100. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish-language version in 2017 shortly after which the most well-known artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018) and Madonna worked on Medellin with Maluma (2019). By 2020 a few reggaeton stars were complaining about its inclination towards mainstream. However, a younger generation, led by Rauw Alejandro, sought to continue the evolution of reggaeton. It was often associated with electronic dance as well as different styles.
